Kimmeridgian Clay layers -  Jurassic Period c.152-157 million years old. A rare Plesiosaur (Colymbosaurus Sp.) vertebrae dredged up many years back near Portland Bill, Weymouth, Dorset and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. This impressive dinosaur bone hails from a Plesiosaur, a large long necked swimming marine reptile that grew in excess of 5 metres in length, with large elongated heads containing many sharp conical teeth, a long thin neck and large bulbous body, stubby pointed tail and four large paddle like limbs for propelling itself at speed through the water to catch its prey. This bone is smaller in diameter than some so most likely a from the upper neck area of a Plesiosaur. In very good overall condition with sound surfaces and a decent and affordable example of its type, 80mm high x 90mm wide x 48mm thick
