A Celtic bronze "Eye type" toggle cloak fastener, British. SOLD
Our Price: £0.00

SOLD

c.1st Century B.C. A Celtic bronze "Eye type" toggle cloak fastener found in the Midlands and from a Staffordshire collection. Main body shaped like a human eye with a large bulbous pupil; it would have once had an elongated loop on the reverse that would have been stitched to the garment, this now missing. It would function much in the same way that toggle fasteners on duffle jackets do. Apart from garment loop missing it is intact and in very nice condition with a pleasant dark green patination, an affordable example of the type, 24mm long x 18mm at widest.
