c.7th/8th Century A.D. A good Anglo Saxon "Ansante" equal ended bronze brooch found many years back in Buckinghamshire and from a Buckinghamshire collection. These simplistic bow brooches are often referred to as Caterpillar brooches because of the elongate nature of them and the characteristic shallow mid-bow hump. Iron pin now lost as is typical for these brooches otherwise intact and in good overall condition with a pleasant dark patina, 45mm long x 8mm wide x 15mm deep
