Product Description
c.13th-14th Century A.D. A good Medieval lead Vesica seal found in Buckinghamshire and from a Buckinghamshire collection. The obverse features the name of the seal owner around the edges with a quatrefoil, Fleur de Lis design in the centre. The reverse features an embossed large Plume-like design. Seal engraving still bold and clear and so should make a decent impression still which is possible to read. [Only people of significant standing in Medieval society would have their own personal Vesica seals and these would have been used to imprint wax seals on important letters and documents]. Tiny piece lost from one end of the seal, not detracting, otherwise good and intact and in nice overall condition with a shiny patina, 30mm long x 20mm wide
