Sited dated to MIS 9-8, c.337k-300k BP. A good "Mode 1"Lower Paleolithic Bifacial pebble hand axe found many years back in Kimbridge Pit, Romney, Hampshire and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Struck from a large flint pebble of a honey coloured flint with original pebble cortex remaining on upper half to afford a good grip of the axe and then worked on the opposing side with 2 large flake removals to form both a functional point and a main chopping blade. Good surfaces with nice ageing and a pleasant old Paleolithic colouration and patination, an appealing Lower Paleolithic pebble hand tool, 90mm long x 52mm wide x 60mm deep approx.
