c.60,000-40,000 years B.C. A good pair of Paleolithic "Neanderthal" flint hand sickles found in the early 20th Century at Payzac, Dordogne, France and from an old French collection. One fashioned from an attractive beige, brown and grey banded flint measuring 95mm in length, the other from a pleasant dark flint with cortex remaining on the butt / grip end as well as on the un-worked edge of the blade and measuring approximately 93mm in length
