c.1st/2nd Century A.D. A good Romano-British Square bronze strap or harness mount found in 2002 in Kirby Cane, South Norfolk and from an old London collection. Of simplistic but solid form with a square faceplate with a shallow groove cast top and bottom and an incised central band design across the middle. Large rivet on reverse for affixing to a large leather strap or to a leather horses harness. Probably once gilded or silvered but now merely bronze. Intact and in good overall condition with a pleasant dark green patination, 20mm x 20mm x 10mm deep
