c.2500 B.C. A good sized and superbly pressure flaked Neolithic flint "Slug Knife" found in Methold, Norfolk in the 1960's and from a Cornish collection. Of typical Slug like form, nicely fashioned from semi-translucent brown flint with a flat underside and a steeply convex upper surface which has been superbly and painstakingly pressure flaked over its entire surface. One of the blade edges is gently curved, the other has a deliberately worked notch and possibly for making arrowshafts from tree branches, using the notch blade for stripping bark and shoots, and for making it true along its length much like using a spoke shave. Totally intact and in lovely condition with super surfaces and attractive shiny ageing and surface patination, a very nice example indeed, 63mm long x 23mm at widest  x 7mm at thickest.
