c.100,000 to 50,000 B.C. A good sized, excellent and very nicely aged Paleolithic backed flint knife / saw, Hucking Hill, near Maidstone, Kent and from an old Kentish collection. Unifacially worked with original pebble cortex on the proximal side forming the main gripping handle and the distal side expertly worked to form a slightly triangulated main cutting edge, the still sharp point and blade above suitable for cutting and scoring, the lower blade section clearly denticulated to function additionally as a saw blade, effectively a great multi-purpose cutting tool. Totally intact and in very nice condition with lovely "old collection" ageing and patination with iron oxide highlights in parts further adding to the visual appeal, old ink inscription and collection number on underside citing "Hucking Hill 3513", a lovely example of a Paleolithic knife/hand saw tool, 97mm long x 64mm wide x 18mm thick.
