c. A.D.1500-1600. A good Tudor Period "Crotal Bell", complete and still working. [Crotal Bells or Rumble Bells as they are also known, were orb shaped handmade bells usually of bronze or pewter and containing a small iron ball which made quite a loud and distinctive tuneful rattle when shaken. These bells were affixed in quantity to Horses and carts to warn others to get out of the way much like a bicycle bell is today]. Totally intact and complete with its iron rattle ball, in reasonable condition with some surface roughness in parts but still a decent and affordable example, 30mm diameter x 40mm high
