Sited dated to MIS 9-8, c.337k-300k BP. A huge "Mode 1"Lower Paleolithic Cobble chopper tool found many years back in Kimbridge Pit, Romney, Hampshire and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Struck from a huge flint Cobble (0.9kg) of an attractive honey coloured flint with original pebble cortex remaining on all unworked areas to aide grip in use. Main worked face formed by 3 large flake removals to form a functional main chopping blade. Good surfaces with nice ageing and a pleasant old Paleolithic, attractive colouration and shiny patination to worked faces, a much larger than normal Lower Paleolithic pebble hand tool, 105mm long x 70mm wide x 130mm deep approx.
