Hoxnian Interglacial period (MIS11) c.424k-374k BC. A huge Lower Paleolithic flint hand pick with fossil sponge inclusion found many years ago at Hellesdon, Nr. Norwich, Norfolk and from an old Norfolk collection. Clearly worked from a large elongate flake of blue / grey flint with a well defined functional digging point, one side still has pebble cortex remaining, another side features a reasonably sized fossil sponge inclusion, something that may well have intrigued the person that originally made the pick. Intact and in good overall condition condition with good surface ageing, a large and unusual early East Anglian hand tool, approx. 170mm long x 65mm wide x 50mm thick
