c.2500-1800 B.C. A large and extremely rare Late Neolithic-Early Bronze Age, carved and shaped Bone Awl found in the early 20th Century in the Ancient Swiss Lake Village settlements of Lake Neuchatel in Switzerland (now a UNESCO World heritage site) and more recently Ex. Simon Camm Collection, Cornwall [Simon, a retired Geologist and Author amassed the most fantastic collection of only the finest quality and rarest examples of Stone Age and Bronze Age artefact's, a collection to rival many Museums in fact]. This large and impressive carved bone Awl has been expertly carved from a larger animal limb bone and makes clever use of the natural shape and protruberances on the joint end of the bone to fit perfectly within the palm of the right hand whilst still having natural areas to rest the fingers and thumb, allowing a good overall grip for use. The other end of the bone has then been carefully carved, honed and polished to form a well defined functional point. Totally intact and in excellent condition for its great age with good sound surfaces and a most pleasant Ancient shiny patina and colouration to worked areas. Large Neolithic carved bone tools rarely ever appear for sale and rarer still hailing from the Swiss Lake Villages; this is an excellent example of its type and a once in a lifetime chance to add one to you own Prehistoric collection, approx. 133mm long x 42mm at widest x 55mm at deepest
