Sited dated to MIS 9-8, c.337k-300k BP. A large Lower Paleolithic quadahedral flint hand axe found many years back in Kimbridge Pit, Romney, Hampshire and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Struck from a large pebble of the most attractive honey coloured flint with a little original pebble cortex remaining in a few areas, expertly worked to form a distinct functional tip with a wide handle grip for use. Lovely surfaces with good ageing and a beautiful old Paleolithic colouration and patination, a large, appealing and tactile Lower Paleolithic hand tool, 135mm long x 103mm wide x 54mm deep approx.
