Early Neolithic c.5,000-3,000 B.C. A large & pleasant Neolithic notched scraper found many years back in the Avon Valley, Fordingbridge, Hampshire and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Fashioned from a beige & brown coloured flint flake, unifacially worked to form two distinct cutteing and scraping edges either side, one with a good worked notch. The notch would have been used for stripping bark and smoothing small tree limbs in order to make arrowshafts etc. Intact with a pleasant surface ageing and a old patination, a pleasant example of the type, 73mm long x 48mm wide x 12mm thick
