c.100,000 to 50,000 B.C. A large and attractive Upper Paleolithic Egyptian "Cordiform" flint hand axe found in the Western Desert area of Thebes (Luxor), Egypt c.early-mid 20th Century and from a very old collection. Old ink inscription on one side stating "Egypt 12", more recently from a long established Canadian lithic collection. Bi-facially well worked with good well defined and still sharp blade edges, shallow ancient knock to one side of reverse (not detracting) and really just affecting the surface patination, lovely surfaces and a wonderful surface ageing and "Desert" patination usually associated with these desert found lithics, a good sized and very nice example of the type, 123mm long x 85mm wide x 26mm thick
