SOLD

c. A.D. 1250-1350. An excellent Medieval iron "armour piercing" arrowhead found many years back in the West Midlands. A long slender but very strong and robust iron arrowhead featuring a quad sided shraply pointed tip, narrowing slightly at shoulders and then into an elongated and substantial tang for insertion deep into a sturdy wooden arrow shaft. The design of this arrowhead is such that it could withstand a very considerable impact without sustaining damage and would have been quite capable of piercing armour when fired from a long bow. Some very minor areas of surface pitting otherwise totally intact, in a stable and very good overall condition with decent surfaces and a pleasant dark patination. A very nice example of the type, 94mm long x 7mm x 5mm.
