SOLD
c.8000 to 6000 B.C. A large and excellent Mesolithic flint knife / saw found many years back in Dorset and from a Bournemouth collection. Expertly fashioned from a large elongate flint flake struck from a core, largely flat underside but well worked on the upper surface with clear medial ridge and well defined and worked blades on either side, both blades somewhat denticulated so also possibly used as a hand saw. A good example of the type with nice surfaces and ageing, a pleasant overall old patination with some iron oxide highlights adding to its visual appeal, 115mm long x 38mm wide x 15mm thick
