c.4000 B.C. A large and excellent Neolithic triangular flint arrow head found near Chelmsford, Essex many years back and from a Suffolk collection. Expertly fashioned from an attractive black flint flake, of elongate triangular form, smooth back and well worked on upper surface to form a thinner medial plateau for hafting into the end of a wooden arrow shaft with well defined blade edges knapped away on either side. A small notch on one blade edge appears contemporary with manufacture as features exactly the same old surface ageing and patination as the rest of the piece, otherwise totally intact and in very nice condition with nice surface ageing and a most appealing shiny old patination, a pleasant and larger than normal example of the type, 44mm long x 36mm wide x 5mm thick
