c.2nd/3rd Century A.D. A large and impressive handle from a Roman bronze Skillet found on a Roman site in  Nottinghamshire. [Skillet - bronze bowl or pan with handle]. Wide robust shank with a very large looped feature at the end which would have no doubt served as a suspension loop for hanging it up in the kitchen. The bowln end has traces of inscribed line decoration which no doubt went around the rime of the skillet. Of good metal with good surfaces and with a pleasant dark green patina, an interesting and uncommon Roman domestic artefact, 93mm long x 27mm wide and 47mm diameter at looped end.
