c.1350 A.D. A large and pleasant Medieval bronze inlaid buckle and plate found many years back in North Yorkshire and from a Durham collection. A large robust oval hoop thicker in centre and tapering at ends towards te hinge with a rectangular buckle plate featuring an inlaid decorative design on its upper surface and remains of two iron rivets on the strap fixing end. Probably once gilded but gilding now lost as is the iron pin, otherwise complete and in good overall condition with just some minor knocks from its time buried in the earth, 48mm long x 34mm wide
