c.14th-15th Century A.D. A large and pleasant Medieval bronze strap end with engraved found in the 1990's on the foreshore of the River Thames at Wandsworth, London and from an old collection of River Thames finds. Of elongate rectangular form with a pointed end and fine wrigglework engraved Chevron designs along its length and a plain reverse side. Hole at base where it would have been attached to a wide leather strap or belt with a rivet. Possibly once silvered or gilded but now merely bronze. Intact and in very nice condition with an attractive light bronze tone, synonymous with Bronze items found buried in the Thames silts, a good sized and pleasant example of type, 48mm long x 19mm x 4mm thick
