c.1200-800 B.C. A particularly large and scarce Late Bronze age votive Axe / Pendant found many years back in Buckinghamshire and from an old London collection. A miniature solid bronze version of a Late Bronze age socketed and looped axe head, made either for votive deposition at a sacred site or possibly even worn round the neck on a thong as a protective amulet. Some old loss from the socket end and small piece missing from suspension loop otherwise intact and in nice overall condition with good surfaces and a pleasant light green patina, a pleasant and larger than usual example, 28mm long x 23mm high x 8mm thick
