Mid-Miocene period c.10-15 million years old. A large and superb tooth from a Prehistoric Mega-Shark "Carcharocles Chubutensis" from an old collection. A super quality tooth complete with excellent shiny enamel and still exhibiting the deadly serrated edges on either side of the tooth. Carcharocles Chubutensis was one of the legendary Prehistoric Mega-Sharks and marginally smaller than the famous Megalodon. Carcharocles Chubutensis when fully grown could measure c. 40 foot in length and 25-30 tons in weight, some 3 or 4 times larger than a modern day Great White. This tooth was obviously from a juvenile example and from the tooth itself, its size can be estimated at c.26-28 feet in length. These extinct Mega Sharks were the largest Apex predators the the World has even known and would even feed on Whales. This lovely example of a Carcharocles tooth measures in at 84mm along the edges x 65mm wide and comes in its own gift / display box. This would make an excellent and unusual gift for someone and also make an interesting talking point.
