c.3500-3000 B.C. A large and superbly worked Neolithic / Pre-Dynastic Egyptian "Piriform" flint knife, collected many years ago and from an old Canadian private collection. A superb and very finely worked bi-facial piece fashioned from a pale reddish-grey flint or chert; very well defined and symmetrical, of thin section with expertly pressure flaked and still sharp blade edges all round. Two tiny old knocks to wider end (not detracting) otherwise totally intact and in excellent overall condition with good surface ageing and patination, a large and excellent example of its type, 110mm long x 60mm wide x 5mm thick.
