SOLD

Early Neolithic c.5,000-3,000 B.C. A large and very attractive Neolithic flint scraper found many years back in the Avon Valley, Fordingbridge, Hampshire and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. A good sized example struck from a large flake of a most attractive banded honey / toffee coloured flint. Bifacially worked but with most working either side of the upper surface forming cutting scraping edges almost around the perimeter of the tool with secondary re-touching to further enhance the blade edges and with a distinct medial ridge running along its length. Intact with a most attractive surface ageing and a shiny old patination, an appealing example of the type, 62mm long x 50mm wide x 18mm thick
