c.2000-1600 B.C. A large and very rare Late Neolithic / Early Bronze Age bowl found in the early 1990's some 20km south of Paris, France and from an old French collection. This sizeable Prehistoric bowl was originally unearthed as a few very large fragments with just some loss but has since been professionally restored to whole, with any restoration being expertly blended with the original textures and colouration of the original pottery fabric. A feint shrinkage crack on one side which does not detract from this rare piece and could easily be consolidated if required, and does not affect the overall integrity of the bowl. The blackening on the bowls underside suggests its use on a fire for cooking maybe. Albeit with some professional restoration, it is still very rare to find a prehistoric bowl of this size being offered for sale, a great addition to any Neolithic or Bronze Age collection, approximate size 220mm diameter x 80mm deep [acrylic display plinth included]
