Early Neolithic c.5,000-3,000 B.C. A large and well worked Neolithic flint hand pick found many years back in the Avon Valley, Fordingbridge, Hampshire and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Expertly fashioned from a pleasant mottled dark & light grey flint with small area of cortex remaining on one side. Thoroughly worked all over and a very well defined and functional tool. Totally intact with a most attractive surface ageing and a shiny old patination with added iron oxide highlights in parts only further adding to its visual appeal, a large, tactile and appealing example of the type, 149mm long x 43mm wide x 30mm thick
