A large, excellent and attractive Upper Palaeolithic ovate flint hand axe found in Coulommiers, North-Central France in 1908 and from an old French collection amassed c.1908-1910. A large and well worked axe with wonderful surface ageing and colouration, iron oxide highlights to percussion ridges and the original small ink written label citing the findspot. A very appealing and tactile Palaelithic hand axe, 141mm long x 83mm wide x 38mm thick.
