c.13th / 14th Century A.D. A large, excellent and still wearable Medieval lead Cross (Crucifix) pendant found in Norfolk. A good sized example pierced on the top arm for suspension around the neck. [These crude lead crosses were widely produced and worn to protect against evil spirits and it was also believed that they would protect the wearer against the Plague which also swept Europe in the 14th Century]. A larger than normal example, still robust and in very good overall condition for ancient lead, could possibly even be worn again if required with a suspension hoop being added and then being worn on a chain or lanyard. A decent example of the type, supplied in a display box - 36mm high x 32mm wide.
