c.9th/10th Century A.D. A large, excellent and very robust Viking period bronze armlet / bangle found many years ago in Germany and from a U.S. private collection. A very robust and eminently still wearable open ended bronze armlet / bangle expertly fashioned from a 6mm thick bronze rod with one half twisted to form a rope twist decoration and the other half left plain, both halves of the bangle finished with small back folded and flattened terminals. Probably once silvered or gilded but now just down to its original bronze with a pleasant dark overall green surface patination. Totally intact and in excellent condition with no damage and an items that could easily be worn again if required, a scarce and appealing Viking period artefact, outer diameters 84mm x 77mm, inside diameters 72mm x 66mm, armlet / bangle thickness c.6-7 mm thick.
