c.3000 B.C. A large, heavy and excellent Neolithic flint Discoidal scraper / knife found in the early-mid 20th Century in Payzac in the Dordogne area of France. Expertly fashioned from a pleasant mottled light and dark greyish flint. Unifacial in form with flat underside, high domed upper side, well worked around perimeter with additional re-touching and pressure flaking to form nicely defined scraping / cutting edges which are still sharp to the touch. Old inked inscription on upper side citing "La Ferelie Pazac". From an old West Country collection, totally intact and in excellent condition with good surfaces and ageing, a larger than normal example, 65mm diameter approx. x 28mm at thickest
