SOLD

c.200,000 - 100,000 B.C. A large, heavy and pleasant Paleolithic flint chopper found many years ago in Norfolk and from an old Norfolk collection. Nicely fashioned from a large mottled grey flint pebble, bifacially struck and retouched to form a well defined main chopping edge, some pebble cortex remaining on butt end to aide gripping the tool in use. This sizable flint chopper would likely have been used for chopping and smashing open animal bones to extract the nutritious bone marrow. Totally intact and in very good condition, a good example of the type, 107mm long x 80mm deep x 70mm thick
