c.3rd/4th Century A.D. A large, rare and impressive Roman bronze figurative clasp from a large casket or chest, skillfully hewn from a single piece of bronze with all details chip carved. This interesting and appealing item has been nicely mounted on a two tier perspex plinth for display. Apart from hinge loop at very top, totally intact and in very nice condition with good surfaces and an attractive overall deep olive green surface patination. British found and Ex A.Morris collection. Figurative clasp 90mm high (on plinth 110mm) x 21mm wide, plinth 45mm x 45mm square.
