c.2nd/3rd Century A.D. A large Roman period hollow backed moulded lead head of a Cherub excavated some years back from a field in North Yorkshire and from an old Yorkshire collection. The head was probably one of many once adorning a decorative casket or small item of furniture and still possesses good facial detail, a pleasant and interesting roman item, 35mm high x 28mm wide.
