c.4,000 to 3,000 B.C. A large slender and rare Neolithic Green Jasper flaked axe, Tenerian Culture, Sahara Desert Region, Niger, Africa. A well worked and clearly defined axe, skilfully fabricated from an attractive Green Jasper; elongate slender main body, bi-facially worked. The axe is very tactile and in lovely condition throughout with no damage and an attractive old shiny desert patina with subtle sand smoothing of percussion ridges. A very nice and appealing example of the type, 122mm long x 35mm wide x 18mm thick.
