Early Bronze Age c.2100 - 1800 B.C. A large, stunning and Extremely Rare Early Bronze age, decorated bronze "Migdale" flat axe found many years ago in Norfolk and from a Cornish private collection. A very large, heavy and impressive flat axe copiously decorated on either side with repeating engraved Herring bone designs, the decoration finishes approx 3cm from the wide flared blade which has been smoothly polished. The axe and its blade edge are totally intact and undamaged, the axe is of excellent sound bronze, displaying a most attractive old deep brown / bronze surface patination; one side perfect, the other side with just some minor surface roughness on approx 25% of its surface however this does not detract in anyway from this impressive and very rare piece. A seldom offered and extremely rare Early Bronze Age Axe that would grace any discerning collection, 148mm long x 86m wide across blade x 8mm at thickest, weight approx. 0.35kg.
