c.5th/4th Century A.D. A large, superb and well detailed Ancient Greek terracotta head of a female from a large statuette, Corinthian. Collected in the mid-20th Century and from an old Norfolk collection. She is depicted with masses of tiny curls in her hair and wearing an ornate, high headdress with a braided band rim across the front. The head is heavy and solid; very well modelled indeed and of good classical Greek style with nice facial details and remnants of the original pigments remaining on the face, hair and headdress. Some minor surface wear to high points from its time buried in the earth (not detarcting) plus some light dust adhering as excavated which should easily clean if required but otherwise intact, robust in very nice condition. A large and very appealing Ancient Greek statuary piece, 95mm tall x 67mm wide x 45mm thick.
