c.10,000-6,000 B.C. A large, well worked and superb Mesolithic flint spear head produced by the Caspian Culture of Algeria, North Africa and from an old West Country academics collection. Very nicely formed on a large thin flake of black flint, expertly pressure flaked all around the perimeter of one side to form sharp functional blade edges with a well defined tip, butt end thinned further to allow it to be inserted and fixed into a wooden shaft with natural resin and sinew. Totally intact and in lovely condition with a very attractive overall deep shiny old Desert patina, a lovely and very tactile piece, 80mm long x 44mm wide x 6mm thick.
