c.4th-3rd Century B.C. A lovely Ancient Greek glazed terracotta pedestalled Salt Bowl (Salter). From the Greek colonies in Campania, Southern Italy. An attractive salt bowl standing on a pedestal base, which would have been a commom site on Ancient Greek dining tables as salt was a vital and highly prized commodity. Reddish / Black slipware, inscised line deoctaion around at mid-section and base of bowl. Itcat and in very nice condition with just some rubbing to glaze in parts from its time buried in the earth, an appealing example of the type, Ex Norfolk collection, 83mm diameter, 53mm high.
