c.2200-1800 B.C. A lovely Late Neolithic / Early Bronze Age flint barb and tanged arrowhead found on the outskirts of York some years ago and from a Yorkshire collection. This flint arrowhead has been expertly fashioned from an attractive semi-translucent beige/grey flint and it has been nicely pressure flaked over all of its surfaces. It is of a fairly wide form with long backswept barbs and a short tang for insertion into a wooden shaft plus good blade edges and a nicely defined tip. One barb lost in antiquity and small chip to tang otherwise intact and in very nice condition with good surface ageing and a shiny patination. A nice example of the type, 25mm long x 25mm wide (complete would have been around 30mm wide).
