Lower Paleolithic (MIS 11 - 9) c.410,000 to 324,000 BP. A Lower Paleolithic flint unifacial "chisel tipped" hand axe found many years back at Barton on Sea, Hampshire and from a Hampshire Geologists collection. Flat underside but clearly worked on upper surface with a small chisel-like functional point. Some pebble cortex remaining in parts. Gently water smoothed as a result of being submerged for many millennia but with good surface ageing and patination, a tactile and very affordable Lower Paleolithic hand axe, 114mm long x 76mm wide x 29mm thick
