Product Description

c.A.D.800-900. A major segment from a small Byzantine period ladies lead vanity mirror featuring crude rune-like raised decorations around, with a central recessed area that would have once held a small piece of polished stone or glass (now gone). A section looks to have been deliberatley cut off, not broken, possibly intended for melting down and re-use of the lead. In decent condition and an interesting and unusual antiquity, supplied in display box, Ex West Country collection, 40mm x 35mm.
