Product Description

c.13th-14th Century A.D. A Medieval bronze "Zoomorphic" casket mount found on the 07/09/1996 in Norfolk and hailing from an old London collection. This bronze mount is elongate in form with Zoomorphic head somewhat reminiscent of a Dragons head with a central punched hole for a small rivet or nail. The other end of the mount curves downwards and it is unclear as to whether this was joined to another section or merely interfaced with it. Thought to emanate from a decorative wooden casket or similar item and probably once gilded or silvered but now merely bronze with a dark patina, good overall condition and an unusual item, 54mm long x 9mm wide

A Medieval bronze "Zoomorphic" casket mount, Norfolk.
