c.4th-3rd Century B.C. A nice Ancient Greek black glazed terracotta pedestalled Salt Dish (Salter). From the Greek colonies in Campania, Southern Italy. An attractive salt dish with a small pedestal base, which would have been a commom site on Ancient Greek dining tables as salt was a vital and highly prized commodity. Shiny black slipware; intact and in very nice overall condition with just some rubbing to glaze from its time buried in the earth, a pleasant example of the type, Ex Norfolk collection, 78mm diameter, 20mm high.
