c.200,000 B.C. A nice and decent sized Paleolithic Mid-Late Acheulian "Tri-hedral" stone hand axe from North Africa. Fashioned from a hard granite-like stone with a largely flat underside and worked on the upper surface to form two simple but effective blade edges either side of a raise medial ridge. Blade edges and point still good. From an old West Country collection amassed predominantly in the 1960's and 1970's. A good sized and decent early Prehsitoric hand axe, 130mm long x 82mm wide x 36mm thick.
