Eocene period c.50 million years ago. A nice fossil fish from the Green River Formation, Wyoming, U.S.A. The fish is well preserved in a buff coloured stone slab with all skeletal details and fins visible. The fish species is Knightia Eocena, an ancient relative of the modern day Herring. This little fish rests today in exactly the same posture as when it drifted to the bottom of a shallow lagoon and was buried by the sand all those many eons ago. Fish c.50mm long, slab 93mm x 90mm
