c.1st / 2nd Century A.D. A nice quality Roman "Samian Ware" decorative glazed pottery shard found in the West Midlands many years back and from a Coventry collection. The shard is probably from the side of an ornate and high quality bowl and would have been originally manufactured in Gaul (France). The shard features geometric pellet bordered frames containing ornate and intertwining floral designs. In very nice condition with good colour and nice surfaces with an attractive shiny glaze, 69mm x 41mm.
