c. 2nd / 3rd Century A.D. A nice Roman Oval "Glass Center Boss" plate brooch / fibula, still gilded in parts found many years back in the West Midlands and from a Midlands collection. A good sized oval plate brooch with dual ornate scroll-work borders around and a raised boss in the centre which would once have held a large oval glass stone, now sadly lost. Once fully gilded, some of which still remains within borders. Old chip to one edge and pin missing as is usual otherwise intact and in good overall condition, 32mm x 26mm
