A nice Roman (Romano-British) votive bronze finger ring of thick heavy form, deliberately broken as is the norm with these items in readiness for deposition at a shrine or other sacred place as an offering to the Gods. The deliberate breaking of everyday items for deposition is meant to remove the item from its use in this World. Found in the West Midlands some years ago and from an old Dorset collection, in nice condition with good smooth surfaces an a pleasant overal light green surface patination, interesting item, 25mm x 22mm x 8mm wide band, Supplied in display box.
